In addition EMMS International has material which is available for loan, hire or sale. It also has archives of the Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society.
While all display material is available free of charge, a contribution towards the cost of post and packing would be appreciated.
We have display material such as slide sets, photos and powerpoint presentations as well as videos of programmes and treks from the last few years. We also have a number of publications available.
Archive
Archives detailing the history of the Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society are maintained by EMMS International. These are not open to members of the public and people requiring information from the archives must apply, in writing, establishing their credentials as bona fide researchers.
EMMS International reserves the right to release, or not to release, information from its archives as it sees fit.
While there is no charge for a request for information from the archives, it is expected that for lengthy enquiries, or complicated research issues, a donation will be made by the requesting party.
Display Material
This is available for people or groups who wish to learn more about our work, set up display boards etc. You should advise us as early as possible about your requirements and arrange to have the material returned to us within a week of it being used.
Slide sets
Set of slides, with written commentary, about the work of our programmes in:
- India – Dr Alfred, Dolkan and Jeevan Sahara Kendra, plus views of Indian village life
- India – EHA projects at Fatehpur, Madhipura and Prem Jyoti
- Nazareth Hospital, plus views of Nazareth
- Malawi – Ekwendeni, Livingstonia and Mulanje, plus general views
These are ideal for groups. Slide projectors and screens are not supplied.

Powerpoint presentations
These may be available for our projects. Please check with the office.
Photographs, about our work, may be prepared according to particular requirements. However, there may be a charge if these have to be specially prepared.

"The Healing Hand"
EMMS publishes a magazine in early March, July and November. This provides an update on our work and programmes. You can down load a copy now by clicking here.

The "Coogate Doctors"
Written by John Wilkinson this is a short history of the Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society (1841 - 1991) and its work in the Cowgate, Edinburgh, training of student doctors, the hospitals in Nazareth and Damascus. This costs £3, inclusive of postage.
"The Beloved Hakeem"
A short booklet about Dr William Bathgate, the ‘Beloved Doctor’, who was medical superintendent at the Nazareth Hospital from the mid-1930s until early 1950s.This costs £2, inclusive of postage.
Information brochures
EMMS International has a number of brochures, giving information about its work in general, or specific aspects of it: General Brochure; Medicines for Overseas; Student Elective Bursaries; Grants for Convalescent Holidays; Stamp Bureau; Tax efficient giving; the Nazareth Hospital. These are available free of charge, although a donation to cover the cost of postage would be appreciated.

Videos
Videos are available for hire, free of charge, or for purchase at £10 each. If you are borrowing a video you should advise us as early as possible about your requirements and arrange to have it returned to us within a week of it being used.

This was prepared a number of years ago and, although outdated, shows the hospital prior to much of the recent upgrading and expansion work. (30 mins)
