Prayer Focus - Week Commencing 11th September 2011
September 7, 2011 - 16:28
International Nepal Fellowship (INF), Surkhet, Nepal
- Give thanks for John Narayan Rai, the new Programme Manager for Surkhet. He is a strong Christian leader who is keen to see God glorified through the ongoing work of the programme.
- Pray for John as he gets to grips with the many and varied responsibilities of running this busy programme. For wisdom, insight, vision and strength to cope with the variety of demands upon his time.
- Pray for the ongoing community mother and child health work that EMMS supports in two remote areas of the Surkhet district. There is a lot of ignorance about safe motherhood practice that is also enforced by cultural taboos.
- Pray for our two local facilitators, that they will find acceptance for the work they are doing amongst their own communities.
- Pray for Lalmati, our INF Community Health facilitator, who visits these areas regularly, holding trainings, encouraging local people and trying generally to raise mother and infant health awareness in these areas by different means.
- Lalmati’s first baby was due in August. Please pray for her, her newborn and the family as they adjust to this new stage of life.
- Pray for Megan Barker, occupational therapist in the General Rehabilitation Unit, who heads up a small team of therapists providing a rehab service to many poor and needy people. Pray for strength and wisdom in the demands of the job.
- Pray for the two new team members who joined the General Rehabilitation Unit in June. Celinda is an occupational therapist from Brazil and Vicky is a physiotherapist from the UK. Pray for them both as they adjust to life and work in Surkhet: having to get used to a new country, language, culture and living and working environment. Pray that they will soon feel at home and settle quickly into the GRU team and that they make good relationships with their expat and Nepali colleagues.
- Pray for the ongoing work of the leprosy clinic. For Tikaram Gharti, the section manager, as he heads up this vital work. Leprosy has been officially ‘eliminated’ in Nepal since last year but the need for leprosy services continues just the same.
