Prayer Focus - Week Commencing 19th February 2012
February 17, 2012 - 17:41
Ekwendeni Hospital AIDS Programme (EHAP), Malawi
- Praise God for Ekwendeni Hospital AIDS Programme (EHAP) in northern Malawi, where AIDS Co-ordinator, Esther Lupafya, and her team are working to ensure that HIV-infected people, orphans and youth have the skills, resources and opportunities for a hopeful future.
- Give thanks for the Home-Based Care programme, which trains community-based volunteers to look after HIV positive people in their homes, to help them have a life of dignity and care.
- Give thanks for the encouragement the programme is able to give People Living With AIDS (PLWA) support groups, which meet weekly to grow vegetables, share experiences and encourage each other to live positively.
- Malawi has a very high rate of youth unemployment and poverty. Praise God for EHAP’s vision that provides life skills, capacity-building and educational support for youths in their community, to ensure that they do not become HIV-infected, but rather have opportunities for a decent livelihood.
- The high prevalence of HIV & AIDS means that children are often orphaned at a young age. Praise God for those who nurture and care for these orphans, providing them with food, clothing and blankets and paying school fees, so that they can grow into adulthood with the possibility of a future.
- Praise God for Esther’s creative response to the problems of those around her. Ask Him to bless her richly as she ministers His love and compassion to all those with whom she comes into contact daily.
