Prayer Focus - Week Commencing 22nd January 2012

January 23, 2012 - 10:40

International Nepal Fellowship (INF) and INF Surkhet Programme (ISP), Nepal

·         Please pray for the country of Nepal as a whole - at a critical juncture in its history after the abolition of the monarchy, with a coalition government including representatives of ethnic minorities.
·         Remember before God, Nepali churches and Christians - both within Nepal and worldwide, particularly for their roles as peacemakers, bringing reconciliation between different political and ethnic factions.
·         INF is a Nepali Christian non-government organisation, registered with the Nepal government's Social Welfare Council.Their aim is, through health and development work, to demonstrate God's love and concern, and restore people's relationships with God, each other and creation, so that they can live dignified lives to the full. Pray that, through their work, God’s name would continue to be glorified.
·         INF’s focus is on the poor and disadvantaged, including those affected by stigmatising diseases (such as leprosy, TB and HIV & AIDS) the disabled, and marginalised groups (such as women, displaced people, and those in remote areas). Pray for all those to whom the INF staff minister in Christ’s name and ask that He would bring healing and wholeness into their lives.

  • Based in Birendranagar, INF Surkhet Programme (ISP)serves people in the middle-hill districts of Surkhet, Jajarkot and Dailekh, and the whole Mid Western Region through its leprosy centre. Give thanks for their ongoing health and development work, particularly with disabled and displaced people, and for the support that ISP gives to the government’s hospital in Surkhet. Praise God for the 44-bed specialist leprosy centre, the only one of its kind in Nepal's Mid Western Region.

·         Praise God for the commitment and compassion of the staff who work with ISP. Pray especially for Occupational Therapists, Megan Barker and Celindra de Castro, and for Alan Barker, Programme Manager.

  • ISP’s Community Health and Development (CHD) Section aims to support and strengthen the Nepali Government’s health system at grass-roots level. Through CHD, INF supports health awareness and other health-related activities, focussing especially on Mother and Child health care. Give thanks to God that, despite the difficulties encountered, ISP’s Community Health staff have been able to achieve some measure of success in this area.
