Prayer Focus - Week Commencing 31st July

July 28, 2011 - 10:52
Prem Jyoti Community Hospital, Chandragodda, Jharkhand, India

  • Dr Vijila Isac recently underwent a lap hysterectomy at the start of a two month break at Chennai. Praise God that, by His grace, she recovered quickly from the surgery.
  • Give thanks for the blessings she experienced during this time: ‘It was good to live at a slow pace; reflect; wonder about some things; spend time with the children; read when I felt like it. I look forward to getting back to Chandragodda, the Lord strengthening me for the work and challenges ahead…’
  • Give thanks for Dr Benedict (Benny), who managed the hospital work during Dr Vijila’s absence. Vijila says: ‘it is wonderful how God has been building up [Benny] as a young leader in Prem Jyoti.’ Praise God that Benny is happy to continue at the hospital.
  • Although Benny worked very hard for his All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination, God’s time for that has not yet come. Pray that Benny will continue to trust the Lord for His timing and that he will be richly blessed at Prem Jyoti.
  • Give thanks for Dr Anbarasi, from CMC Vellore, who covered for Dr Vijila in her absence and was a great support to Dr Benny.
  • One night in early April, Prem Jyoti’s jeep was stopped in a neighbouring village by a huge mob, who accused the hospital of perpetrating the gruesome killing of a 2-year old girl in a Malto village some six months previously. The mob threatened to avenge her death by breaking down and burning the hospital the following morning. Praise God that the team were able to raise a lot of additional prayer support and that, by His grace, nothing untoward happened. Ask that the Lord would continue to bless the hospital as they try to dialogue with the communities around and clear misconceptions.
  • Pray for the spiritual revival of all the Prem Jyoti team members and for the salvation of many patients and their relatives through the team’s witness and lives.
