DGMH’s vision is to “proclaim a clear Christian witness to the love of God for all the people in the communities in which we work.” The hospital regards ministry to the whole person as important and is working to keep people healthy in body, mind and spirit.
The hospital serves a population of 75,000 people, and sees over 10,000 patients, about a quarter of whom are admitted. The pattern of illness is typical of the country – malaria, pneumonia, TB and HIV & AIDS being the major issues.
The Primary Healthcare Department runs a wide range of services, including maternal & child health, malaria, food & nutrition and HIV & AIDS programmes, as well as community health projects.
