‘EMMS has made a great impact on the services that this college provides to the nation.’Flemings Nkhandwe, Principal
Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences
The College of Health Sciences currently has 144 student nurses who live in hostel accommodation on-site during term time.
The nursing course lasts for three years, at the end of which the students graduate with a Diploma as Nurses/Midwife Technician. The college has an extremely high pass rate amongst its students.
The College of Health Sciences has great plans to develop further, by offering degree level courses. EMMS are supporting this by funding for one of the tutors to study a Master’s Degree in the UK.
EMMS International has supported the college by:
- Providing textbooks
- Funding a Student Hardship Fund
- Building a male student hostel (enabling Ekwendeni to be the first College in Malawi to train male nurses)
