EMMS International is working in partnership with the International Nepal Fellowship (INF) at their clinic in Surkhet, in the mid-west region of Nepal.
Also from James Wells's visit to Nepal in March 2010 we have the following report:
Dailekh Community Health Project, Nepal
The second EMMS International funded Community Health Project in Binsyabasini, a village community in Dailekh, Nepal has been completed. The project ran over three years and aimed to build the capacity of local government health structures to improve health awareness and access to health services.
The project has developed a strong network of Female Voluntary Health Workers (who work with village women on mother and child health issues) and a network of mothers groups. They have formed a very active Network Group that advocates on their behalf. The Village Health Committee is also very active, and includes members from the local villages and political parties.
Around 75% of all local deliveries now take place in the Health Post, general health awareness is greater. The Health Post in Charge reported that it is now much easier to engage with local people. Mother’s Group Loan Funds are now regularly topped up by community fundraising activities and the community is much more motivated about health issues.
