The journey to show that Every Life Matters

We have a vision for a just world in which all people have access to good quality and dignified healthcare. Thanks to your generosity, that vision became a reality for over 400,000 people last year, giving them health and hope and putting an end to their hidden suffering.

Cervical Cancer Patient-1026.jpgIn the UK we are celebrating 70 years of the NHS. While it is a service under great pressure, we must still acknowledge that it is a lifeline for many of us. There is such security in knowing that quality care is available to us when we need it most and without cost. Sadly, this is not the case for many others, including Kesnary in Malawi.

Kesnary (pictured right) is 80 years old and she has cancer. She is one of a growing number of people in Malawi and around the world who are living longer thanks to improved healthcare. However, for Kesnary old age brings the prospect of prolonged sickness and pain and no national health service to care for her in her time of need.

It is a six-hour hike over the hills to access a hospital, or a two-hour boat journey and further 2 hours by road. With limited resources and such poor health, the journey is unaffordable and often unbearable, leaving Kesnary without essential pain relief.

However, in the past year your support has brought a new ambulance boat to Lake Malawi, to help specialist healthcare professionals reach people like Kesnary when they need it most.

But we know, that we can't stop there. We need your continued support to make that vision a reality. With your help, we can reach 1,000,000 people by 2022. Will you continue with us to show that every life matters?
