Heavy monsoon rains have caused torrential flooding across much of India, Nepal and Bangladesh. More than 1,200 people have died and some 40 million people have been affected by the devastation.
In Nepal, our partner International Nepal Fellowship is working alongside other local organisations to provide emergency food relief packages along with shelter, clothing and blankets. They are preparing medical supplies and teams to help in the worst affected areas.
In India, Bihar has been one of the worst-affected states and our local partners Duncan Hospital are responding. They too are distributing emergency supplies and providing critical medical care. They are also working to provide shelter and rehabilitation support to 137 families who have lost their homes.
The heavy rains continue and this situation is developing day by day. As flood waters recede the response develops to prevent disease outbreak and to restore supplies of clean water.
As is so often the case in times of disaster those who are poorest and most vulnerable are hit hardest. Your support will help our partners to respond to this emergency and to save and protect lives.
