In the November Prayer Focus, we concentrated on palliative care in Nepal and the work EMMS International is supporting there. I hope you were all able to see the STV coverage of some aspects of this work. If you missed it you can catch-up here

In November we told how Nurse Manju had been funded to undergo palliative care training. Since her return she has undertaken a pilot project running a palliative inpatient consultative service at Tansen Hospital for 3 months, where the most common palliative condition is end stage respiratory disease.

Meanwhile there has been ongoing research work led by EMMS' partner, International Nepal Fellowship, into care needs in earthquake affected areas, and also work on testing an appropriate tool to recognise palliative needs in hospital patients.

You can also read further updates from Nepal in our recent news update: News from Nepal.

Prayer Points

Give thanks for:

  • the many people and their families who have already benefitted from access to palliative care.
  • the response to the ongoing appeal for this work, particularly over Christmas and Advent.

Please pray for:

  • Dr Dan Munday, Nurse Manju and all who are involved in developing a palliative care service in Nepal.
  • For people in areas affected by the earthquake who are still without permanent homes or easy access to healthcare.

  • For staff as they present their research findings at conferences.
  • For Nurse Manju who is marrying Enosh in April.
