Holy Week of Bright Hope - Wednesday

Rachel Cooney, Children’s Director at St Paul’s and St George’s, joins our own Amy Westendarp today to reflect on God's great provision.

The Every Girl Matters (Sunita) project builds on many years of work that EMMS International have done with our partners to tackle inequalities. For people like Sunita and her family who've been held back by sickness and poverty. We're so excited about the launch of this big new UK aid match project, which has been made possible by the outpouring of generosity from donors, it makes the line from the hymn 'all I have, Thy hand has provided' seem so appropriate for thinking about the Sunita project. And we're just really excited to see how this project is going to foster communities in Nepal who support girls to thrive and reach their potential. Jesus gave us an amazing example, through His attitude to women and girls, of how every girl is precious and honoured in the sight of God. And we just can't wait to see how this project works to build a brighter future for girls.

The hymn praises God saying 'all I have needed, your hand has provided'. Let's pray. Thank you, God, for the amazing provision for this project that has given what is needed to help 20,000 families struggling with life-limiting illnesses and poverty in Nepal, access health care. Thank you that this will lift the burden of care from young carers so they can go back to school knowing that their loved ones are cared for. Psalm 23 says: the Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. Even though I walked through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me, Your rod and staff they comfort me. Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen
