May Prayer Focus

...but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. - Isaiah 40:31

Hope restores. Can you think of times this past year where God has restored you, lifted you up, given you fresh strength? These are often the daily prayers of the compassionate Christian healthcare workers with whom we partner.

These will be the prayers of our partners in India and Nepal particularly. In this new and devastating wave of COVID-19 hope is hard to find in the circumstances that surround them. We're thankful that they, and we, can look to the Lord and be renewed, even when the storms around us are not subsiding.

  1. We lift up frontline healthcare workers in India and Nepal amidst this rising wave of COVID-19. We pray that their strength will be renewed, that they will not grow wear or faint under the current pressures. Lord, keep them safe and help them to continue showing care and compassion in the current crisis.

  2. Give thanks for the new Mokwanira project in Malawi’s Mulanje District, where COVID has left people with TB at even greater risk. Pray for better case detection and a reduction in community transmission and pray for the provision of basic water and sanitation at all 20 remote health centres involved.

  3. We pray that the Palliative Care Team at Green Pastures Hospital will continue to be a beacon of hope in their local communities and beyond. We ask for God’s constant help as they journey with patients and their families.

  4. Pray for Duncan Hospital’s work to support girls training as healthcare workers. Pray that community English lessons open up hope for a better future for girls rather than being married off in their teens into a life of servitude. Pray for those who have successfully completed their English courses and are doing the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife course.
