October Prayer Focus

Updated: Oct 25, 2021

Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. - Psalm 139:12

We seek to serve those living in hard-to-reach areas. Those for whom landscape, climate, infrastructure and availability of services mean healthcare isn't as accessible as it should be. It's reassuring to know that wherever our partners go - from Nepal's mountains to Malawi's lakeshore - God is there with a hand to guide.

We pray for protection in changing seasons. As Malawi approaches the rainy season we pray for safety for field healthcare workers on steep, muddy roads. And we remember those who become isolated from hospitals and clinics, may they get the care they deserve.

We pray for girls in rural north India. We give thanks for the work of Duncan Hospital in reaching out to give vocational training and the opportunity to pursue careers in healthcare to girls who would otherwise be excluded.

We give thanks for reduced COVID cases. We're glad to hear reports from Nepal, India and Malawi of an easing of coronavirus cases and pray that would continue. At the same time, we pray for healthcare workers in the UK facing increasing pressure from COVID, seasonal flu and the backlog of cases. Sustain them, Lord.

We give thanks for a safe and fruitful visit to Mulanje Mission Hospital. It was good to spend time with partners in person and see their work first-hand. Pray that many others will be encouraged as we share stories of their efforts to bring essential care to hard-to-reach communities. We pray for Dr Arie Glas and his leadership of the hospital and for all the staff of Mulanje Mission Hospital.
