Statement & Prayer on the Death of Her Majesty the Queen

Updated: Sep 9

On behalf of EMMS International, which exists to bring Christian service and compassion to the world, I share with you the sadness brought by the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Throughout her reign she used her influence in leadership and service. Her deep Christian faith inspired a life which exemplified Christian love and the dedicated service of others, and her interests embraced the whole world. I was privileged to meet her on both public and private occasions, and experienced first-hand the attention she gave to the people she met.

Together we grieve the passing of our queen and offer heartfelt thanks for her faithful service of God and her people. She was our gracious queen and we give thanks that she was ours for so long. Our prayers are now with her family, her household and the many lives she touched during her long reign.

Lord our God, in your mercy comfort us in our sadness and loss. We give thanks for the gracious life of our Queen, for her years of service to her own nation, and for her abiding interest in the many other nations she visited. We celebrate the breadth of her interests and her welcome for many, praying that her example will continue to inspire others to trust God and to offer their own faithful service. We give thanks for so many cherished memories while praying for comfort for her family and all those who grieve her death. These prayers we offer in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and King. Amen
