EMMS International is working with Duncan Hospital, part of Emmanuel Hospital Association, to improve the care of mums and babies in Bihar, India.
All too often babies die of easily treatable conditions like jaundice. The mothers lives are at risk too because there is no support for complications during labour. These deaths are all the more tragic because they are easily avoidable.
This project wants to stop this by providing better care for pregnant women and their babies both in the hospital and in the surrounding villages. It establishes a network of volunteers, sets up village clinics, improves referrals and upgrades hospital services.
