Supporting the delivery of effective, quality healthcare through David Gordon Memorial Hospital.
This project focuses on securing long-term provision of medicines and supporting the training of the hospital's next Medical Director.
DGMH currently subsidises the purchase, administration, and transport of all medicine. While some drugs are provided for by the Malawi government, this programme helps DGMH source a supply of medicines which can used and resold as required.
Purchasing drugs wholesale allows DGMH to ensure a ready supply of essential medications and to buy at reduced prices. Drugs can be resold and profits invested in future supplies and other hospital improvements.
One of the hospital team is already in training to be the next Medical Director. Penjani Sichinga is currently working to finish his medical degree and this project supports the costs involved in his training. It is exciting to see the hospital lead by a Malawian doctor in the near future.
