About the Event
Join us on Saturday 2nd December for the Chariots of Fire Beach Run in Portobello.Runners and walkers of all abilities are very welcome! You'll be helping to raise urgently-needed funds for local families affected by dementia, healthcare overseas and a range of projects to support students and their welfare.Â
Ask family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you to take on this 4-mile challenge, recreating the iconic scene from the Oscar-winning film Chariots of Fire, where runners including gold winning Olympian, Eric Liddell, run along the water's edge.
We are thrilled to be joined by Eric Liddell’s niece, Sue Liddell Catton, who will officially start the event. Portobello's beach yogi, Jen McGregor, will run a free, 20-minute, yoga-style stretch and warm up, alongside The Physiotherapy Place, who are offering free express physio treatments. Dishoom will be serving warming Chai.Â
Participants in the Chariots of Fire Beach Run who raise £400 or more will receive a specially designed commemorative t-shirt in the style of that worn by Eric Liddell. You will be raising urgent funds to support those who are living in poverty with dementia, through our partnership with the Eric Liddell Community, and other life-limiting conditions in Scotland, India, Nepal and Malawi. Or choose to fundraise for Edinburgh College & Edinburgh College Development Trust, who undertake a range of projects to support students and their welfare.
The event is open to anyone aged 16 or over. Once signed up, remember to set up your JustGiving page (we will send you all the information you need), where you can tell your story, share your photos and videos, and collect donations from your friends, family and supporters.Â
