We have all been shocked by the devastation caused by these floods. Communities have lost loved ones, homes and access to vital infrastructure. Through our trusted local partners, we are responding, but we need urgent support from the public to reach those most affected.
We are appealing for urgent support as local partners work to assist communities affected by the disaster.
One of our partners travelling from Pokhara to Kathmandu narrowly avoided becoming stranded when the Dhading Besi Bridge collapsed shortly after they crossed it: "The very bridge we had passed by only a short time earlier collapsed within seconds, severing access between communities and the main highway. Had we been just a couple of hours behind, we too could have been stranded on the road."
Our partners continue to work on the ground, assessing needs and delivering support to affected communities. Funds raised through the emergency appeal will help enable partners to respond quickly and effectively as recovery efforts begin.
