Nepal Palliative Care Centre Dedication

On Friday 20th November 2020, we had the great privilege of joining our partners in Nepal to celebrate the dedication of the Palliative Care Centre of Excellence at Green Pastures Hospital in Pokhara. You can still view this online event below:

A landmark for Palliative Care in Nepal

The event marked a huge step forward in the delivery of palliative care to otherwise isolated areas of Nepal. As well as being a place of care for people within reach of Pokhara, it is also a training centre to equip more specialist healthcare workers to care for Nepal's rural communities.

UK government match funding to show that every girl matters

The event featured a special announcement from Baroness Sugg that from 20 November 2020 to 19 February 2021, donations to a special appeal would be doubled by the UK government. The Every Girl Matters appeal aims to make the most of the new centre to improve rural palliative care. As a result, the burden of care is lifted from young girls and they can return to school.

Prof Jason Leitch and Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh

We were also joined by Prof Jason Leitch (National Clinical Director, Scottish Government), Prof Angela Thomas OBE (Acting President, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh) and Dr Conor Maguire (Vice President (International), RCPE).
