James Wells, the Chief Executive Officer of EMMS International, has moved on from the Charity after 11 years at the helm. The Board would like to thank James and record their appreciation for his dedication and leadership during this period, and for his part in the development of our excellent work and reputation in the provision and development of health care services in Malawi, India and Nepal, particularly within palliative care. The number of people we help each year has increased exponentially during his tenure from 20,000 in 2012 to over 415,000 in 2019, with almost 2 million people benefitting from essential health care through our programmes during this period. In the short term, James will be focusing on his PhD in Global Health before looking to take up a new challenge. Recruitment of new leadership for the Charity is underway.
